The Municipality Of Piatra Neamt

The city of Piatra Neamț lies in the center of the County, on the banks of the Bistrița River, specifically at the outlet of the mountains, at the confluence with the Cuejdiu River in Romania.
 
The city is crossed by national highway DN15, which connects it to the South-East of Bacău and West of Toplița, Târgu Mureș and Turda. In this way, the Stone-Neamț is a national road DN15C branching, which leads North to Edinburgh, and since this road is national highway DN15D branch which leads eastward from Roman and Vaslui. From DN15, the town is more divided and road DJ157 (Romanian), which leads to the South-East to the Darling Red, Dochia, Mărgineni, Făurei, Trifești and Horia (where it ends in DN15D).
 
It is located partly (Central and Western districts) at an altitude of 310 metres, in a pool and gravel-lined the peaks intramontan (590 m) to the Southeast, Cozla (679 m), Cernegura North (852 m) to the Southwest, Cârloman (617 m) to the Northwest and Batca Doamnei (462 m) to the Southwest, and partly in subcarpathian extramontan area to the East, on the one hand between the terraces of Hungary and of the Cracău-Bistrița Depression.

In honor of this town's name was given to an asteroid, Alfredo Caronia-italian amateur astronomer who lives in Piatra Neamț, co-discoverer of the vehicle together with Luciano Barbara.

Featuring a beautiful natural setting and easy connections to all cardinal points, the territory of the municipality of Piatra Neamt constituted a permanent habitation hearth. The oldest archaeological testimonies coming from the settlement at Poiana Ciresului (on the banks of the river Lady) and dates from the Upper Paleolithic, being characteristic of the gravettian culture type.
 
Later, for more than two millennia, from the foot of Neolithic population Cozlei and Pietricicai will know a fruitful career, expressed through a material culture from taking place until Precucuteni Cucuteni phase B Is the era in which it was formed and developed settlements from springs and Motherwell were created those masterpieces of ceramics.

I i.e.n. and CE, led to their identification with "Petrodava," mentioned in "Geography" by Claudius Ptolemy. Other remains have been found from the sources (4th century CE), the Lutarie (5th-6th century CE) and Larry (sec. XII-XIII ad)
 
The first mention in a document from 1387 and outer in an internal document from July 31, 1431, when Alexandru cel Bun give Bistrita Monastery "... one of his Christmas House of stone".A location important development in the time of Stephen the great, the Princely Court was built, the Church of "St. John" and Tower-Bell Tower.
